Note

Printed coat of arms of the ‘Most Rev. John Murphy, Bishop of Cork / Cork, 1815’ is pasted onto the fly leaf. Manuscript annotation on verso of fly leaf reads: ‘Livre rare curieux et estiné ex libris P. Brunet O.M. acheté de rencontre à Paris le 8 avril 1826’. John Murphy (1772-1847), Bishop of Cork from 1815-47, was a noted bibliophile. Fr. Arthur O’ Leary OFM Cap. (1729-1802) of Blackamoor Lane, Cork, had a significant influence on him and may have fostered his love of printed theological works.

Note

'Traicté des anges et demons', a translation of some of Maldonado’s expositions collected by one of his pupils, is of questionable authorship or authenticity.
