Scope and content
1846034 Blessed Charles Houben, C.P., Writings: McEvoy Family: transcripts of two letters written by Blessed Charles to Mrs, McEvoy, and one by him to her daughter, Pauline. Mrs. McEvoy lived at Tobertynan House, Longwood, Co, Meath and the family was visited by Fr. Charles on several occasions. In gratitude for the gift of a baby daughter - some maintain as a result of intercession by Fr. Charles - they erected a shrine to Our Lady of Lourdes in the woods at their house in 1868. Fr. Charles may have blessed this shrine. For interesting developments re this shrine see correspondence located at 4/4/3/20-25. The daughter, Pauline, named after St. Paul of the Cross, may also have been cured in later life by Blessed Charles. She married the Duke de Stacpoole in 1883. These typescripts were made by Fr. Oliver Kelly, C.P., from the originals, loaned by Major George Stacpoole in 1961,
NB. SINCE THE ABOVEN ENTRY WAS MADE, THE ORIGINALS OF THE LETTERS REFERRED TO HAVE COME TO HAND AND ARE ENTERED UNDER SERIAL NUMBERS 8411, 8412 AND 8413. THE TYPED COPIES (REFERRED TO ABOVE) HAVE BEEN ATTACHED TO EACH ORIINAL. THE ABOVE RECORD CONCERNING THE TYPED COPIES HAS, THERFORE, BEEN CANCELLED.
